Immerse yourself at Aberystwyth University for a semester like no other!

Each year, a group of approximately 30 first- and second-year Honors students travel to Aberystwyth University to study together during the spring semester.

Aberystwyth University is located on the coast of west Wales, nestled between the Cambrian Mountains and Cardigan Bay. Aberystwyth is a welcoming community in a historic seaside market town that has a cosmopolitan Welsh culture.

  • Who Can Participate

    Access to Honors Abroad in Wales is open to all first- and second-year Honors students in both the University Honors Program and the General Honors College Pathway.

    The Program only runs during the Spring semester, and you'll need a valid passport to participate.

    Interested students should complete the Honors Abroad interest form to begin their journey to Wales.

  • Program Structure & Classes Offered

    The Spring 2026 semester runs from January 2026 through May 2026 (16.1 weeks).

    Courses:

    You'll typically will enroll in three college-level courses, called modules.

    You'll be able to choose from the modules offered at Aberystwyth University, but two of the three modules should be taught by the same department.

    College of Charleston Credit:

    You'll earn transfer credit at the College of Charleston as long as you earn the US equivalent of a C or better in your modules.

    You'll need to have all courses approved for transfer credit by the appropriate academic department at the College of Charleston. The College's Center for International Education is available to help students get their transfer credits approved.

    Spring 2026 program cost: $13,119

    • You'll pay your tuition to Aberystwyth University, not to the College of Charleston.
    • Only federal and state aid is applicable.

    Housing Type: Residence hall

    Housing Information: All students must stay in accommodations provided by the program.

    Enjoy living in our Cwrt Mawr on campus accommodation for free with the university’s International Accommodation Award. Students will be in single bedrooms with shared kitchens and bathrooms.

    As a resident in University-managed accommodation, students will receive free Platinum gym membership to the University’s Sports Centre, giving students access to all of the facilities, and fitness and wellness classes.
