Advantages of an Honors College Education

A Living-Learning Community

The Honors College Living-Learning Community within Joe E. Berry Residence Hall is the home base for your Honors College experience. From day one, you’ll begin to form meaningful collections with peers, faculty, and staff.

Personalized Mentoring

Working closely with faculty is a core part of the Honors College. In addition to your assigned major advisor, you’ll be mentored by an Honors College faculty advisor. You’ll work together to figure out what's best for you—the best classes, the best opportunities, the best resources to help you develop and thrive.

Small, Seminar-Style Courses

Honors College classes are made up entirely of Honors College students and average fewer than 18 students per class. This creates an engaging learning environment filled with invigorating discussion and coursework that helps you develop problem-solving skills for the real world.

Additional Scholarship Support

Honors College students are eligible for a variety of merit aid and scholarships, many of which are available specifically for Honors College students. This includes dozens of scholarships associated with our top scholars program the Charleston Fellows.

The Honors Hub

The Honors Hub is a centralized platform for all things honors-related. It’s your one-stop-shop for Honors College announcements, resources, and specialized opportunities. On the Hub, you’ll learn about opportunities like research, internships, jobs, campus events, volunteer roles and more.

Specialized Opportunities

Honors students have access to all kinds of resources to help you maximize your time at College of Charleston. A few highlights include:
