A main goal of the Department of Communication is to provide you with many options for enriching their experience through activities outside of the classroom. We offer funding opportunities and extracurricular programs, including Experiential Learning Awards, Scholarships and mentoring opportunities.

LAMBDA PI ETA – NATIONAL COMMUNICATION HONOR SOCIETY
Xi Chi - the Lambda Pi Eta Chapter at the College of Charleston
Lambda Pi Eta is the honor society of the National Communication Association (NCA). The Xi Chi chapter at the College of Charleston is among nearly 300 other active chapters at colleges and universities worldwide. -
MENTOR-PROTÉGÉ PROGRAM
The Mentor-Protege Program matches students with professional mentors from among the ranks of our National Advisory Council and our most prestigious alumni. Throughout this process you will meet and network with potential mentors and ultimately be matched with the person who best aligns with your personal and professional interests.

MARTIN SCHOLARS
Martin Scholars program inspires and develops a future generation of leaders among today’s outstanding Communication majors at the College of Charleston.
The program develops a select group of senior Communication majors through a combination of exposure to effective communication leaders who serve as mentors and teachers, networking opportunities with Communication alumni and the Department of Communication National Advisory Council members, and experiential learning.

CISTERN YARD MEDIA
CisternYard Media (CYM) is a student-run publishing organization that has three outlets and multiple opportunities for students to get involved. Students who choose to devote time to CYM can develop skills in a number of areas, including: news and feature writing, media and public relations, radio and TV broadcasting, advertising and sales, graphic design & so much more!
