Paying for the Program

There are many ways to pay for the B.P.S. program. Here are the most common methods.
  • Loans

Loans are borrowed funds that have to be repaid with interest. This type of financial aid can come from the federal government or private sources. Students interested in loans from the federal government must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

    • Visit the College's Loans page for more information.
  • Scholarships

The College of Charleston offers opportunities for incoming adult students pursuing their undergraduate degree based on academic merit or special talent.

    Sue Sommer-Kresse Scholarship

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to students pursuing a bachelor's degree in professional studies; recipients must have demonstrated financial need.

Additionally, there are national and private scholarships specifically for adult students. We encourage you to research these scholarships and apply to them if you meet the eligibility criteria.

  • Grants

Grants are gift (free) money, which are usually given on the basis of financial need. All grants require completing a FAFSA and any additional federal requirements, like verification.

    • Visit the College's Grants page for more information.
  • Employer Tuition Reimbursement Programs

Many companies offer their employees the benefit of paying for a pre-determined amount to assist in covering some of their educational pursuits. Try speaking with your employer's HR office about what your company offers.

  • Veteran, Military and Dependent Benefits

It is our honor to serve veterans, active duty members and dependents in the B.P.S. program. There are national programs like the Yellow Ribbon Program and College of Charleston-specific scholarships that are available to you.
