Reduced Tuition Offer

At the College of Charleston, we understand that you are making a sacrifice to return to school and complete your degree. We want to give our B.P.S. students the best chance at success by offering a 20% discount on tuition.

 

The below tables demonstrate a reduced tuition offer for part-time and full-time B.P.S. students. You will need to complete a minimum of 35 credit hours to earn a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree from the College of Charleston.

Part-Time BPS Student Track


Example cost of attendance for a part-time course load (six credit hours per semester):

Paying for the Program


There are many ways to pay for the B.P.S. program. Here are the most common methods.
  • Loans

    Loans are borrowed funds that have to be repaid with interest. This type of financial aid can come from the federal government or private sources. Students interested in loans from the federal government must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

  • Scholarships

    The College of Charleston offers opportunities for incoming adult students pursuing their undergraduate degree based on academic merit or special talent.

    F.X. Schupper Lifelong Learning Endowed Scholarship
    The purpose of this endowed fund is to provide scholarships to adult students enrolled at The College of Charleson to assist with the expenses associated with credit-bearing coursework.  

    Sue Sommer-Kresse Scholarship
    The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships to students pursuing a bachelor's degree in professional studies; recipients must have demonstrated financial need.

    Additional Scholarships listed below are available to students enrolled in The Bachelor of Professional Studies Program to promote and encourage adult education.  

    The Betty A. Kinloch Scholarship
    This scholarship is awarded by the college based on financial need

    The Thomas A. Palmer Scholarship
    Thomas A. Palmer, the college's first Dean of Continuing Education, established this scholarship to assist adult students in completing their degree.

    The Hargrave Fund
    This fund is in memory of Ms. Margaret Moody's grandmother, a native of the City of Charleston.  This fund was established to assist the continuing education of adult students.

    Mary A. Skipper Endowed Scholarship Fund
    This scholarship is in memory of Mary Anne "Peggy" Skipper who graduated from The College of Charleston at the age of 65. Students selected for this scholarship must be a married female with children, of at least 30 years of age, enrolled in at least six credits toward a declared major who demonstrate community volunteer work and have maintained a 3.0 GPA. 

    The Sara R. Cain Memorial Scholarship
    This scholarship is awarded by the college with first preference to a female student who is returning to the college to complete her degree.

    Additionally, there are national and private scholarships specifically for adult students. We encourage you to research these scholarships and apply to them if you meet the eligibility criteria.

  • Grants

    Grants are gift (free) money, which are usually given on the basis of financial need. All grants require completing a FAFSA and any additional federal requirements, like verification.

  • Employer Tuition Reimbursement Programs

    Many companies offer their employees the benefit of paying for a pre-determined amount to assist in covering some of their educational pursuits. Try speaking with your employer's HR office about what your company offers.

  • Veteran, Military and Dependent Benefits

    It is our honor to serve veterans, active duty members and dependents in the B.P.S. program. There are national programs like the Yellow Ribbon Program and College of Charleston-specific scholarships that are available to you.
