Undergraduate Programs

Study arts management and prepare to be a leader, manager, and integral member of arts organizations. Your courses will emphasize key professional skills with a focus on the creative sector. You’ll study topics in management and organization. You’ll refine your decision-making and problem-solving skills.

In addition, this curriculum includes a focus on:

  • strategic planning.
  • creativity.
  • fundraising.
  • grant writing.
  • arts marketing.
  • entrepreneurship.
  • financial management.
  • arts policy.

As an interdisciplinary program between the School of the Arts and the School of Business, you’ll develop a strong foundation in accounting and economics. Students can easily build upon this foundation to earn a double major or minor in a business discipline.

Add the Music Industry Concentration

Are you interested in a career in the music industry? Consider adding the music industry concentration to your program of study. You’ll hone industry specific skills though coursework, internships, and related opportunities.

You may even want to work with 1770 Records, the student-run record label. Gain hands-on experience with real world work in the music business, including:

  • event planning.
  • copyright and contracts.
  • graphic design.
  • distribution.
  • manufacturing.
  • marketing and promotion.
  • artist development.
  • the actual release of new music.

Add a Minor in Arts Management

The Arts Management minor is designed to complement a variety of fields, most commonly paired with the fine and performing arts and business disciplines. If you choose to add the minor to your course of study, you’ll become familiar with nonprofit management and the creative process. This is particularly helpful to students studying public health, political science, sociology, environmental and sustainability studies, foreign languages and more.

B.A. + M.P.A. Accelerated Program

Earn both a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management and a Master of Public Administration in just five years!

This program integrates contemporary methods of arts management within the arts with the skills essential for careers in the public sector.

Admittance into the accelerated program allows undergraduates in arts management to take 12 graduate credit hours in place of undergraduate hours. Six PUBA core courses would be taken during the student’s fifth year. An additional elective course would be needed to achieve the required 36 credit hours. Students may apply for and earn the ARCM certificate outside of the accelerated program.

For more information on how to apply and for details about the accelerated program, current students should visit The Hub.

The Arts Management Program gave me all the resources and connections I needed. It’s one thing to book the band and make the poster, but you need to understand the logistics.
