The Studio Art Summer Immersion (SASI) program at the College of Charleston offers an intensive one-week summer experience for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a strong interest in studio art. Participants will engage in college-level foundation classes in studio art and work closely with college educators to create projects using various mediums, including drawing, painting, digital photography, and sculpture. By the end of the program, students will have produced portfolio-quality work and images that they can use for college applications and personal purposes. Additionally, the program aims to provide college-bound students with a dynamic summer experience in an arts-focused environment.

This year, SASI is excited to introduce on-campus housing and dining, making the Summer Studio Art Immersion program a fully residential experience! Live in College of Charleston residence halls, just steps away from studios and downtown Charleston. This vibrant showcase features artwork created by our students during their summer journey of artistic exploration and growth. Tuition
The Studio Art Summer Immersion (SASI) program at the College of Charleston is a unique one-week summer experience designed for high school students with a strong interest in studio art. This program offers students exposure to college-level foundation classes. Participants will work alongside college professors to create artwork in various mediums, including drawing, painting, digital photography, and sculpture. At the end of the program, students will have a college-ready portfolio of work across various artistic mediums they can use for applications or personal use. The program aims to provide college-bound students with a dynamic summer experience in an arts-centered college environment.
TUITION RATE
- $700.00 - Early payment rate if paid before Saturday, May 16th, 2026.
- $750.00 - Regular rate applies from Sunday, May 17th, until the DEADLINE on June 15th, 2026.
TUITION INCLUDES
- All necessary course materials.
- A college-ready portfolio of work suitable for college applications or personal use.
- Free admission for friends and family to the final student exhibition on Saturday, July 25th, 2026.

Housing
We are excited to announce our new on-campus housing for SASI participants! You will live in the vibrant College of Charleston dorms with support from our Resident Assistants (RAs), who are current Studio Art majors ready to help you adjust to campus life.
As a residential student, you'll have secure access to the building, participate in evening activities, and join a friendly community near your studios. This housing option is ideal for students coming from outside the Charleston area, providing a full studio art experience.
Housing is available from Sunday, July 19th, to Saturday, July 25th. You'll stay in double-occupancy rooms with shared spaces and bathrooms. Family members or guests are not allowed to stay, as this helps maintain an authentic college experience.
RAs will supervise students after classes until the program begins the next morning and will host evening activities such as game night and a talk with a visiting artist at the Halsey Institute.
HOUSING COST: $480.00
*All students who will be staying overnight must also purchase the dining plan.
DETAILS
- Move-in to the dorms is on Sunday, July 19th, 2026, at noon
- Move-out is Saturday, July 25th, 2026, at noon.
- Double-occupancy rooms with shared spaces and bathrooms.
- Students will enjoy evening activities directed by our Studio Art RAs.
- Experience the life of a college student for a week in a dorm.
WHAT TO BRING
Housing does not provide the following items.- The dorm mattress is a twin XL, so make sure to bring a sheet set that fits. The mattresses are all foam and really comfy!
- Don't forget your pillow, blankets, or a comforter.
- Towels
- Shower tote
- Toiletries
- Chargers for all devices you are bringing
- The college does not provide TVs, so please bring your own laptop or tablet for entertainment viewing.
- Headphones or earbuds

Dining
SASI students have access to on-campus dining options, which helps them stay focused and energized throughout the program. Participants will dine at the College of Charleston’s dining facilities, where a wide variety of choices are available, including vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-friendly meals. The College of Charleston requires students living on campus to purchase a meal plan. Access to the dining hall ensures that students can enjoy balanced and convenient meals without leaving campus. This feature allows students to spend more time in the studio, connect with peers over meals, and experience a true taste of life at CofC.
DINING PLAN - $190.00
The dining plan is available for students residing in our residence hall and includes 17 meals. Students will receive a dining hall card to access the food hall.
