Graduate School Pathways


The School of Health Sciences and Department of Applied Exercise Science are committed to supporting students beyond their undergraduate studies by creating graduate school pathways that reduce financial barriers and recognize student achievement. These pathways are built through strategic partnerships with leading institutions and are designed to help top-performing students in the Carolinas continue their education with greater ease and support.

Pathways and Support


Current Graduate Pathways:

  • Priority Admission to UNC Wilmington’s Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT):
    For qualified Exercise Science students who meet pre-admission requirements
    • Designed for those pursuing advanced clinical training in athletic training
    • Offers a structured and supportive pathway into graduate-level education
  • Guaranteed Admission into Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at MUSC
    • Qualified Exercise Science students can earn 1 of 6 guaranteed seats in the residential DPT program or 1 of 6 guaranteed seats in the hybrid DPT program at MUSC
    • These seats can be earned either after graduation or after completion of all CofC general education and prerequisite courses have been completed (accelerated pathway)
  • Guaranteed Admission into Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) at MUSC
    • Qualified Exercise Science students can earn 1 of 6 guaranteed seats in the residential OTD program or 1 of 6 guaranteed seats in the hybrid OTD program at MUSC
    • These seats can be earned either after graduation or after completion of all CofC general education and prerequisite courses have been completed (accelerated pathway)

We are actively expanding our graduate school partnerships and anticipate adding more priority-admission and tuition-reduction opportunities soon. These pathways will continue to align with students' professional goals while enhancing access and affordability.
