About Us

Inaugural Dean of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics Search

As an urban public university, a key feature of the mission of the College of Charleston is to provide a workforce pipeline to support the region’s growing high-tech and manufacturing industries. To that end, in 2024, the College of Charleston launched a new School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics. This school comprises three departments:

  • the Department of Engineering.
  • the Department of Computer Science.
  • the Department of Mathematics.

The reorganization of these three academic departments into a stand-alone school is a strategic investment by the university into select professional, more applied programs to attract new cohorts of students, bolstering the enrollments of traditional liberal arts coursework. The programmatic synergy between these departments provides a technically savvy and globally fluent talent pipeline for the Lowcountry, South Carolina and beyond.
