How to Become a Public Choice Associates


Selection Process

Public Choice Associates are selected based on eligibility criteria and strength of application, which includes the application form, academic record, faculty recommendation, cover letter, and resume. Students are invited to participate in a panel interview conducted by College of Charleston faculty, and Director of Student Programs Dr. Beatriz Maldanado. The application deadline is April 30, 2024. 

Application Materials

To be submitted via the School of Business Internship & Specialty Program Portal:

1) Application Form

2) Cover Letter 500-word cover letter should address the reason the applicant wants to be a Public Choice Associate and which of their attributes will contribute to the program

2) Resume

3) Class History obtained from Degreeworks in a PDF format (please note the class history is different from a degree audit)

4) Letter of Recommendation 

Ask a faculty member to fill out the recommendation form by the deadline (April 30, 2024). The recommender will receive a link to the recommendation form with 24 hours of their information being entered in the Portal.

Application Deadline

The application form must be submitted online by April 30, 2024. 

Also, please make sure to have a professor fill out the online recommendation form on your behalf before the deadline.

No paper or incomplete applications will be accepted.
