Math Lunch
A tradition started in Spring 2024 to encourage camraderie among students and faculty, Math Lunch is a bi-weekly informal gathering where everyone is welcome! This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with peers, engage in stimulating conversations, and get to know professors in a relaxed setting. Whether you're a freshman navigating the beginning of your academic journey or a seasoned student seeking to expand your network.
Invitations and reminders are sent to students and the dates can always be found in the events on the Math Hub.
-
Drop-In Advising
Registration and program planners can be stressful! We host Drop-In Advising sessions before every registration period. There are faculty members available to help students get organized and make sure they are on track for the upcoming semester. Plus, there's snacks!
-
Parties and Gatherings
We enjoy welcoming new students to campus and reconnecting with returning students at our Welcome Back Party every fall.
The graduate program hosts social gatherings on and off campus.
We join the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics every spring for the Commencement Reception to honor our graduates.
-
Harrison Randolph Calculus Contest
This contest is held every spring in honor of alum, professor, and former College of Charleston president. The winner is honored at the spring awards ceremony and awarded $100 from the CofC Alumni Association.

Colloquium and Conferences
Our students, faculty, and guest speakers present their research at the Department of Mathematics Colloquium.
The department hosts conferences to gather mathematics students and researchers. Conferences give attendees the chance to hear talks about the latest research and network with professionals.
