Math Events

Campus is a busy place! There is always something interesting and fun happening.

Social and Academic Events

The Math Club is always looking for interested students! Puzzles, games, and competitions are more fun with more people. The faculty are excited to meet and socialize with students interested in Math at our parties and gatherings. Award and commencement events give everyone the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work of our students. The colloquium and conferences are great places to stay on top of the latest research.
  • Math Club

The Math Club gathers weekly for recreational math. They do things like:

    • puzzles
    • contest problems
    • brain teasers
  • Harrison Randolph Calculus Contest

This contest is held every spring in honor of alum, professor, and former College of Charleston president. The winner is honored at the spring awards ceremony and awarded $100 from the CofC Alumni Association.

  • Drop-In Advising

Registration and program planners can be stressful! We host Drop-In Advising sessions before every registration period. There are faculty members available to help students get organized and make sure they are on track for the upcoming semester. Plus, there's snacks!

  • Parties and Gatherings
We enjoy welcoming new students to campus and reconnecting with returning students at our Welcome Back Party every fall.

The graduate program hosts social gatherings on and off campus.

We join the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics every spring for the Commencement Reception to honor our graduates.

  • Colloquium and Conferences

Our students, faculty, and guest speakers present their research at the Department of Mathematics Colloquium.

The department hosts conferences to gather mathematics students and researchers. Conferences give attendees the chance to hear talks about the latest research and network with professionals.
