Renters Insurance
The College of Charleston does not cover the cost of your personal belongings being stolen or damaged. Renters insurance can help.
College of Charleston has partnered with GradGuard, which offers renters insurance designed for college students living on or off campus.
Here are a few scenarios in which renters insurance can help:
- You leave your laptop unattended to grab lunch and later find that it was stolen.
- You lock your bike up, head to class and – when you return – your bike is gone.
- You return to your residence after the gym to find that someone accidentally caused a fire on your floor. The smoke ruined all of your clothes, books and bedding.
- Your toilet overflows. Water damage destroys your stuff and the belongings of other residents on your floor.
During the housing application process, you will be able to review the GradGuard insurance program and decide if you’d like to purchase or decline coverage. Living off campus? Visit their website to add coverage or call their customer service line, 866.985.7598.
You are not required to get renters insurance, but we highly recommend it.
