Student Involvement

Some of the program’s best features are outside the classroom! Here are a few ways to engage to get the most out of the hospitality program.

CHAT provides an opportunity for the intellectual and experiential growth of students who are interested in the hospitality and tourism industry. Join the club and boost your skills with cool activities while making a difference in our industry! There are no fees to join the CHAT and most events are free.

HTMT Student Ambassadors

Our student ambassadors work directly with faculty to help represent and promote the department and all the fantastic opportunities available to students. Some of their responsibilities include:

  • planning, hosting, and attending alumni events
  • managing and planning social media for the department
  • planning, hosting, and attending events with local, national, and international hospitality recruiters

Students interested in joining the team should visit The HTMT Hub.

Office of Tourism Analysis

The Office of Tourism Analysis (OTA) is a unit of the department and is advised by industry and community leaders. As a student involved with the Office of Tourism Analysis, you'll get the unique opportunity to collaborate with the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau to implement a series of research and monitoring programs for decision-makers in the Lowcountry's hospitality and tourism industry.
