Philip Kassebaum


Adjunct Professor

Philip Kassebaum received both his BA and MA degrees from the College of Charleston, where he studied American environmental history and the history of American nutrition.

His research interests include the cultural, political, and medical history of nutrition and public health in modern history with a specialization focusing on the impact food and nutrition had on the United States from the late 19th century to present day.

As a historian, Philip centers his work around ideas of health, wellness, authority, community, and public understandings of what constitutes robust health and the optimal human diet.
