The recruitment process will continue with in person rounds Thursday, August 13 to Sunday, August 23, 2026. All eight chapters will participate in the Primary Recruitment process. Early Move-In for participants is Wednesday, August 12th, 2026.

If you are participating in Orientation Sessions on August 13th and 14th or Cougar Excursion, you will not be able to participate in Panhellenic Recruitment.

**Please note that no exceptions will be made if a PNM has not completed registration before the closure of primary recruitment registration and will be unable to participate in the primary recruitment process. **

It is important to note that CofC Primary Recruitment is a mutual selection process and that participation in Recruitment does not guarantee a prospective new member an invitation to join a sorority, nor does it obligate her to join. Women interested in participating in Recruitment can register online starting March 31st, 2026 at 12:00 PM EST.

Recruitment Registration Fee: The recruitment registration fee covers the cost of one meal, snacks, one recruitment shirt & additional items such as water bottles, fans, etc.

  • Regular Registration Fee: $115 + $5 service fee

FAQs

Recruitment Frequently Asked Questions
  • When can I participate in sorority recruitment?

Primary sorority recruitment at College of Charleston is only conducted in the fall semester, prior to the start of school. 2026 Recruitment week begins Thursday, August 13th, 2026, and concludes with Bid Day on Sunday, August 23rd, 2026.

It is important to note that the CofC Panhellenic does not host a structured spring recruitment. If you are unable to participate in fall primary recruitment, but are interested in joining a sorority, you may participate in Continuous Open Bidding (COB).

  • What is Continuous Open Bidding?

COB begins immediately following the end of the Primary Recruitment process, on Bid Day. COB is also sometimes held in the spring semester; however, not all sororities are eligible to participate in COB.

In order to host COB events, a chapter must be under Chapter Total, more information and interest form for COB will be posted after Bid Day.

  • Can I go through Recruitment as an upperclassman or transfer student?

Yes, we encourage all upperclassmen & transfers students to participate in CofC Primary Recruitment. Provided you are a full-time student at CofC who consistently lives and self-identifies as a woman and have not been initiated into an NPC sorority at CofC or on another campus, you may participate in fall Primary Recruitment or COB.

  • Is there a required GPA to go through Recruitment?

Although CofC Panhellenic Association does not require a specific grade point average (GPA) to participate in Primary Recruitment or COB, each sorority has a minimum grade requirement to be eligible for membership. We do recommend having a 2.5 GPA to participate in recruitment.

  • Does participation in Primary Recruitment guarantee a bid for membership?

No. We encourage PNMs to keep an open mind through the recruitment process and maximize their options during selection processes.

  • Is my registration fee refundable If I decide not to participate in recruitment?

No. Unfortunately, all registration fees are nonrefundable, no exceptions. This is clearly stated on the recruitment registration payment link, so before you register for recruitment, please take this into consideration.

  • How do I register for early move-in?

Early move-in is for approved groups or extenuating circumstances only. You must register for Primary Recruitment to be eligible for early move-in. Housing will automatically receive the names of women who are registered for Primary Recruitment, so you do not need to submit an early move-in request through the My Housing/Dining portal.

  • What if I received a bid during recruitment and have since decided to decline?

If at the end of Primary Recruitment, a PNM receives a bid to a chapter that she listed on her MRABA and later decides to decline it, she is still bound to the chapter for one year or until the next primary recruitment period, meaning she cannot participate in COB and/or accept a bid for membership to another NPC sorority for a full year.

Please review the Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement tab to learn more about the MRABA.

  • What should I expect to receive after registering for Recruitment?

  • What is a Recruitment Counselor or Pi Chi?

A Recruitment Counselor or Pi Chi is an impartial representative of the CofC Panhellenic Association who serves as a resource or guide to potential new members navigating the recruitment process while understanding and implementing the purposes, rules and goals of the CofC Panhellenic Association in recruitment.
