Interfraternity Council (IFC)
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is responsible for the coordination of recruitment, judiciary policy and procedure, inter-fraternity relations and maintaining and improving fraternity relations with other Greek Councils, the College community and the community at large.
The IFC is a member of the NIC (North American Interfraternity Conference).
The IFC at the College of Charleston consists of student representatives from 8 nationally recognized fraternities.
Why Join?
Fraternities have existed on the College of Charleston campus since the mid-1800s and have continued to thrive ever since. Every fraternity is held to high standards, which have allowed fraternity members to rise well above the average college student. Those who chose to join a fraternity will find their college years filled with opportunities for leadership, academic improvement, personal advancement, and healthy social life. Membership in a fraternity truly adds value to the college experience that is attainable nowhere else on campus.

Recruitment Information
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at the College of Charleston facilitates a structured recruitment process designed to introduce students to fraternity life in an organized and welcoming environment.
At the beginning of each semester, IFC hosts a series of events prior to the registration deadline. These events allow students interested in joining a fraternity to meet members from each chapter, learn about their values and experiences, and ask questions. These events provide a consistent and accessible starting point for all participants.
Once registration closes, IFC hosts its official recruitment kickoff event, Convocation and Open House. This event marks the formal start of the recruitment process, only open to students who met all eligibility requirements and registered for the process.
Following Convocation, individual chapters host events over the course of one week. During this time, Potential New Members (PNMs) are welcomed at attend events to continue learning about each organization, unless an event is designated as invite-only. These events offer a more in-depth opportunity to connect with current members and explore where they may find the best fit.
The recruitment process concludes with Bid Day, a formal event held in the Cistern Yard, where students receive and accept invitations to join a fraternity.
Recruitment takes place at the start of both the fall and spring semesters each year.

Yes. To participate in IFC recruitment, you must register through the official recruitment system, ICS.
Sharing your name or interest with an individual fraternity does not count as registering for recruitment.
Fraternity members may reach out to you prior to recruitment to ask about your interest in fraternity life or their specific organization. This is a normal part of the process.
