Undergraduate Programs

The Department of Health and Human Performance (HEHP) offers majors and minors in:

  • exercise science
  • public health
  • health services administration and management
  • health informatics (minor)
  • coaching (minor)

Our programs provide you with a high quality educational experience by providing experiences such as study abroad programs connected to your major, undergraduate research with faculty members, student organizations aligned with your program of study, and internships with local, national and international community partners. Through these experienes you will be exposed to dynamic, innovative leaders in health professions fields who are able to share their professional knowledge on relevant health issues.

Beginning the 2023-24 academic year, the Physical Education Teacher Education program will no longer be available to incoming students (freshman and transfers). The program will undergo a teach out so that all currently declared students have an opportunity to complete their major requirements based on their academic advising plan.

  • Health Services Administration & Management

    Beginning Fall 2024, the Health Services Administration and Management (HSAM) program will prepare students to plan and manage health care operations including key tasks related to budget, hiring, scheduling, record keeping, compliance, policy and procedure implementation, and strategic planning.

    Healthcare organizations, and the services they provide, are vital to the well-being of individuals and communities. Through this program, students will study both healthcare and business principles, gaining the ability to make data-drive solutions to deliver efficient and high-quality healthcare services. Students will also learn the skills needed to evaluate systems through data analysis and develop policies geared toward creating better healthcare organizations.

  • Health Informatics (Minor)

    Health informatics careers combine concepts and practices from healthcare, computer science, and information science. Students pursuing majors in health sciences, biomedical sciences, nursing, biology, psychology, interdisciplinary studies, and health services administration may choose this minor to enhance their current undergraduate program. They can also pursue careers in higher education and applied research.

  • Coaching (Minor)

    The coaching minor is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of coaching at all levels: youth, elementary, high school, college and professional. This minor is designed to assist coaches in developing effective organizational, motivational and teaching strategies to guide successful programs. The coaching minor is available to students in all majors, provided there is no overlap in course requirements.
