Admissions Process
Applying to the Graduate School at the College of Charleston is a straightforward process designed to help us get to know you, your academic background, and your professional goals.
Below is the standard process for the evaluation of applications from the time of submission to decision release.
Who Reviews Your Application
Graduate faculty and staff, usually an admissions committee led by the program director, conduct a detailed review of your application once all materials are processed.
How Your Application is Reviewed
Admissions decisions are competitive and based on available spots, applicant strength, and a holistic review of your academic records, recommendations, test scores, and statement of purpose; or documents as required by the program.
When You’ll Be Notified
Timelines vary by department. Contact your program for details.
How We Notify You
Decisions are sent via email with instructions to access your online decision letter. Communication from the program department does not equal a formal offer.
If You’re Accepted
Confirm enrollment via your applicant portal by the deadline in your admission letter. Fall admits before April 1 must respond by April 15. If a response is not received, the offer is withdrawn.
Deferring Admission
Deferrals are granted for medical emergencies, military deployment, or visa delays. Submit requests after April 15 through your department.
