Award Recipient Profile: Vishnu Volate '24

Profile on Vishnu Volate '24, recipient of the John Palmer Communication Award.

The John Palmer Award is a legacy award given to students seeking experience and education outside the classroom. Honoring John’s extraordinary legacy and commitment to the communication field, the award gifts recipients with unique and valuable experiences.

Vishnu Volate is a senior majoring in Communication and recently received the John Palmer Award. Networking is essential in this dynamic workforce, and Vishnu says the award “was critical in making connections with fellow young professionals.” Vishnu recently travelled to Milwaukee, WI, and Chicago, IL to participate in meetings with BMO Northwestern Mutual, BVK HUB International, NBC News, and more. These trips were organized by the National Millennial and Gen Z Community, Founded by Bill Imada, which aims to bridge the generational gaps in the communications profession.

“The fund allowed me to participate in extra-curricular experiences while I was in Milwaukee and Chicago such as paying for train fare, visiting markets and of course the occasional end-of-the-day beverage. To continue, I believe that because of the Palmer Award I was able to gain a greater appreciation for my studies and future career. Without the extra funding, my overall enjoyment and understanding of the communications field would have been impaired.”
