Program Coordinator / Director of Experiential Learning

Claire Long is the Program Coordinator/Director of Experiential Learning for the Arts Management Program at the College of Charleston. 

Claire graduated from the College of Charleston with a major in Arts Management and minors in Music and Studio Art. After completing her degree, she worked as a high school teacher and a freelance musician and then moved to Pittsburgh to complete the Master of Arts Management (MAM) program at Carnegie Mellon University. During her graduate studies, she conducted research in accessibility work, specifically making the arts more physically and programmatically accessible to persons with disabilities. While in graduate school, Claire worked in Carnegie Mellon’s Office of Disability Resources as an Equal Opportunity Services ADA Assistant. She continued this work after graduation, in addition to working on an eight-month accessibility consulting project with four major museums in Pittsburgh. She relocated to Charleston in 2016 and accepted a position within the Arts Management Program at her alma mater. Since then, in addition to her administrative role, she has taught and developed courses as an adjunct faculty member and has spearheaded the program's experiential learning initiatives including internships and study abroad.

Claire is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership with a Business Concentration and also teaches a beginner pottery class at the Clay Cottage in Mount Pleasant. She is passionate about connecting students to high impact learning experiences, cultivating a culture of mentorship, and facilitating creativity.
