About Karen Crush
Karen Crush- Advisor
Karen Crush has spent most of her career working in K-12 education as a teacher and principal. In this capacity she has worked with students and families in all facets of the public school experience. She led building and division-wide training exercises for faculty and staff. She was also members of several state and local organizations and presented at state conferences.
⠀
Karen earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in German from Roanoke College in Virginia and a Master of Arts in Education from Virginia Tech. She has also earned numerous certificates and qualifications over her many years in public education. After retiring from her position as principal in Virginia, she pursued a lifelong dream of living and working in Germany. While working at an international school in Düsseldorf, she served on several building-level committees and was asked to lead professional development. She also participated in leadership training.
⠀
After five years living in a fascinating new culture, she returned home and researched a career in academic advising. Working with adult students in a supportive role that enables them to develop their individualized path toward graduation was very appealing and she was fortunate to join the AAPC team at the College of Charleston in January 2023. Karen enjoys travel, learning about new cultures, reading, and walking on the beach.
