About José Luckie-Rodriguez
José Luckie-Rodriguez
Academic Advisor
Jose is from Commerce, GA, and spent most of his formative years in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He attended and graduated from Young Harris College with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He attended graduate school at Auburn University and received his Master of Education in Higher Education Administration. Before CofC, Jose lived in New Orleans, LA and worked as a first year advisor at Tulane University for three years. He was able to successfully help in transitioning, advising, and coaching students through their first year of college.
If asked to give any advice to students, he would quote the infamous Chris Stapleton in his song "Starting Over" - "But nobody wins afraid of losing, and the hard roads are the ones worth choosing." Yes, satisfying and easy results are great, but the most fulfillment in life comes from the items, events, and achievements that you had to work for.
Jose has been fortunate to start over many times. Outside of work, Jose has the most brilliant & bonita wife, Isabelle, and they are the proud parents of two children (cats) named Miso Soup and Julep (soup). He also loves to participate in the Ultimate frisbee community, a Vinyasa Flow morning Yoga class, an invigorating game of chess, hit some golf balls at the driving range, or simply learn something new. Thanks for reading my blurb and I cannot wait to get to know about you (the reader)!
