Academic Policies & Procedures

The policies found in this area are directly related to academics. They are a result of collaboration between the Provost's Office, the Division of Academic Affairs, the Registrar's Office, and committees under the purview of the Faculty Senate.

 

Creation of New Site Codes and Classrooms

This policy mandates that the Office of the Registrar must secure written consent from the Provost before implementing any new site codes or classrooms in Ellucian Banner.

 

Graduate Enrollment in Study Abroad Programs

This policy ensures compliance with College Policy 7.6.8 by restricting the enrollment of graduate students in study-abroad programs to prevent the inadvertent creation of off-campus sites.

 

Posthumous Degree Policy

This policy allows for the awarding of posthumous degrees to deceased students upon recommendation from the relevant Dean(s) and approval from the Provost and President.

 

Online Education Policy

This policy underscores the College of Charleston's commitment to exceptional online education, overseen by the Online Education Steering Committee and compliant with SACSCOC accreditation standards.

 

Undergraduate Certificate Programs

This policy clarifies that an undergraduate certificate, distinct from a degree, signifies focused academic achievement in a discipline or interdisciplinary area, aiming to develop specific competencies for students.
