Research Interest

I am a media critic who writes primarily about television and film through feminist, mythic, and cultural critical lenses. My published work examines representations of gender, sexuality, and race. Robert Westerfelhaus (also a professor in CofC COMM) and I also interrogate iterations of the American monomyth and post-apocalyptic narratives in popular culture texts like westerns, sci-fi, and horror.

Courses Taught

COMM 215, COMM 336, COMM 410 & COMM Capstone. My courses often focus on communication and culture, representation, critical analysis of popular culture, and are regularly offered as part of study abroad experiences in Italy and Spain.
