Hello! My name is Matt Griffin, and since June 2024, I have been a proud member of the Academic Advising and Planning Center here at the College of Charleston. I am an alumnus of CofC with a B.A. in Communications. After graduating, I pursued my passion for travel and a newfound love of education and helping others by teaching in Japan.

I spent seven years in the beautiful and snowy city of Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, working as an English teacher and advisor for students of all ages and backgrounds. There, I developed and honed my skills in communication, teaching, and academic advising. I became the most senior teacher in all of Northern Japan and received the title of Communications Coordinator in 2021. In this role, I was responsible for not only teaching and advising new students, but also mentoring new teachers in my region. I moved back to America in early 2023 to be closer to my family. In my free time, I enjoy cycling, snowboarding, tabletop games, video games, hiking, movies, music, and learning about space and technology.
